Occupational Health and Safety at Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC)

RIDBC is committed to ensuring the health, safety and welfare of its employees and other people coming to the workplace.

RIDBC recognises its employees as its most valuable asset and their health, safety and well being is a paramount responsibility. Other members of the public, including students, families, volunteers, contractors and visitors, are given the same consideration as employees in respect of health and safety.

RIDBC Occupational Health and Safety Committee

The objective of the Occupational Health and Safety Committee is to provide a mechanism for the facilitation of effective communication with employees to enable them to contribute to the making of recommendations which affect the health, safety and welfare of employees and others in the workplace.

Disability Action Plan September 2010

RIDBC is committed to equity of access for staff, students, visitors and volunteers, and first undertook the development of a Disability Action Plan in 2002. In 2010 the Disability Action Plan was reviewed by RIDBC’s Occupational Health & Safety Committee. This comprehensive document gives consideration to physical, attitudinal, information, and communication access throughout RIDBC, identifying current issues and making recommendations for improvement.

RIDBC’s Disability Action Plan has been reviewed in compliance with Section 38 of the Disability Act 2006.
