Run your own event

Running your own event is not only a great way to raise funds for the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children but is also a wonderful excuse to have fun with friends, new and old.

If you wish to host your own event, please contact RIDBC’s Community Relations and Fundraising team on (02) 9871 1233.

Where do I begin organising my own event?

It is advisable to contact RIDBC a considerable amount of time before you plan to hold the event for advice and approval.

Once your event is approved you will be granted with fundraising authority which complies with standard legal and ethical obligations.

What are the policies and procedures?

All fundraising events must comply with the NSW Charitable Collections Act and Australian Tax Laws. Any further information can be clarified when meeting with your RIDBC event coordinator.

What kinds of events are suitable?

It is best to discuss with RIDBC’s event coordinator which type of event best suits your requirements. Some suggestions are fun runs (a group of friends can sponsor someone in an event or host one of their own), morning teas, dinner parties, barbeques, golf days, fetes, trivia nights, company picnics, auctions etc.

What does the money raised go towards?

Funds raised from events held will go towards helping RIDBC regularly assist over 700 children and their families and provide screening for thousands more.

You may nominate a specific RIDBC school or service for your raised funds to go towards - just be sure to let us know beforehand!
