RIDBC generally assists students with multiple disabilities who have significant hearing and/or vision impairment, plus intellectual disability, and would benefit from individual education.
In general, we accept children with:
- visual acuity of 6/24 or poorer in the better eye (after correction) and/or a field of vision of 15 degrees or less; and/or
- hearing thresholds of 60 db or greater in the better ear.
We do, however, consider the combined effects of two or more disabilities, and may enrol children with lesser levels of impairment.
Many students on our programs also have physical disabilities.
