RIDBC aims to support parents as much as possible in their role as chief educator of their child. Some of the services we offer for parents of children with vision impairment include:
- Special learning groups
- Playgroups, enabling interaction with other parents
- Access to RIDBC’s Continuing Education program
- Regular newsletters, including one from the Renwick Library on the newest book and video resources available to parents
- Vision Impairment CD Roms
- A list of Internet resources
Parents are welcome to contact RIDBC at any time with their queries. Either phone your child’s relevant service, or contact us on (02) 9871 1233.
Special learning groups
RIDBC organises special learning groups, or support groups, for parents when required.
For example, a small group of parents at RIDBC Hunter have been learning how to produce braille, in order to label items in their house and encourage their children towards braille literacy.
