King House is a two storey, motel-style accommodation located within the grounds of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children.
Quality short and long-term accommodation is available for:
- Full-time students
- Visiting research/teaching fellows
- Conference participants; and
- Other official visitors

Staying at King House
General Information
Accommodation includes:
- 23 rooms
- Mixture of twin and single configurations (1 wheelchair accessible room)
- 2 interconnecting rooms which sleep up to 8 people
- 13 rooms with ensuite, 10 rooms without ensuite
- Internet access available in 17 rooms
- Sheets, towels and pillows are provided

Communal facilities:
- Communal kitchens x 2
- Communal living/dining areas x 2
- Communal bathrooms x 2
- Communal laundries x 2

Housekeeping
No housekeeping or laundry service is provided for guests during their stay.
There is a vacuum cleaner in the communal laundry which is available for guests to use if they wish.
Rooms are professionally cleaned, and linen laundered, once a guest has departed.
Meals
No food or meals are provided. Each kitchen has two fridges, full cooking facilities and plenty of pantry space.
Supermarkets are located across the road in the Westfield Shopping Centre.
Television
There is a television in each of the common living areas.
King House does not have cable television or pay-TV.
Internet
There is a limited broadband service provided to 17 rooms and both flats.
King House has a limited monthly allowance and we ask that guests refrain from downloading movies or songs as this can drastically reduce the allowance and cause the internet connection to become very slow or even cease.
Transport
RIDBC does not organise transport or transfers for people staying at King House. The centre is well served by public transport in addition to shuttle bus services.
Telephones
There is a telephone in each room (local and STD only).
There is a public telephone on the ground floor at the western end of King House.
Bookings
To book accommodation please complete a King House Booking Form (PDF) including payment details for the length of stay required. Completed forms should be e-mailed to king.house@ridbc.org.au or faxed to +61 (0)2 9872 0824 and marked to the attention of the Accommodation Officer.
Once your booking has been received, you will be contacted to confirm your reservation.
Please note: accommodation can not be reserved without a completed booking form.
Costs and Payment
The costs to stay at King House differ depending upon the length of your stay and whether the room is required for one or two people.
1 person room: 1-7 nights
$50 per night, up to 3 nights
$130 for 4-7 nights + $30 cleaning fee
1 person room: 8+ nights
$130 weekly rate + one-off $30 cleaning fee
$18.50 per night for part weeks
2 people room: 1-7 nights
$70 per night, up to 3 nights
$210 for 4-7 nights + $30 cleaning fee
2 people room: 8+ nights
$210 weekly rate + one-off $30 cleaning fee
$30 per night for part weeks
Rooms for two people are charged per room and not per person.
RIDBC prefers payment by credit card at the time of booking, but will also accept cheques or cash payments. Please indicate on the booking form if you require an invoice.
Upon Arrival
During Business Hours
Keys to King House can be picked up between 9am and 4pm, Monday to Friday, please go to Reception (located in the Administration building by the front gates) and ask for the Accommodation Officer. Keys to King House are not able to be picked up between 4pm and 5pm Monday to Friday. Keys can be collected from the Security Guard after 5pm.
Outside of Business Hours & Weekends
Keys and details of new arrivals will be left with the Security Guard. Upon arrival, please go to the Security office located at the main entrance.
If the office is unattended, please press the red button on the front gate which will alert the Guard, who will provide further assistance.
Departure
On the morning of your departure, please place your key in the Key Return Box located on the ground floor of King House, near the eastern staircase.

Restaurants
Apart from the restaurants located in the Westfield shopping centre, the nearest restaurants can be found in Epping, Parramatta, Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill and would require travel by bus or taxi.
