Accommodation

King House is two storey, motel-style accommodation located within the grounds of the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children.
Quality short and long-term accommodation is available for:
- Full-time students
- Visiting research/teaching fellows
- Conference participants; and
- Other official visitors
General Information
Accommodation includes:
- 23 rooms
- Mixture of twin and single configurations (2 wheelchair accessible rooms)
- 2 interconnecting rooms which sleep up to 8 people
- 13 rooms with ensuite, 10 rooms without ensuite
- Internet access available in 17 rooms
- Linen and towels are provided
Transport
RIDBC does not organise transport or transfers for people staying at King House. The centre is well served by public transport in addition to shuttle bus services.

Housekeeping
No housekeeping or laundry service is provided for guests during their stay. There is a vacuum cleaner in the communal laundry which is available for guests to use if they wish. Rooms are professionally cleaned, and linen laundered, once a guest has departed.
Meals
No food or meals are provided. Each kitchen has two fridges, full cooking facilities and plenty of pantry space. Supermarkets are located across the road in the Westfield Shopping Centre.
Television
There is a television in each of the common living areas. King House does not have cable television or pay-TV.
Internet
Wi-fi is available in King House.
Telephones
There is a telephone in each room (local calls only). There is a public telephone on the ground floor at the western end of King House.
Bookings
To book accommodation please complete a King House Booking Form (PDF), including payment details. Completed forms should be e-mailed to king.house@ridbc.org.au.
Once your form has been received and a booking made, you will be sent a receipt for payment and a confirming email with instructions for key collection.
Please note: accommodation cannot be reserved without a completed booking form
Costs and Payment
The costs to stay at King House differ depending upon the length of your stay and whether the room is required for one or two people.
Please contact the accommodation officers for pricing information.
Payment is by credit card at the time of booking and a receipt will be emailed to you. Please indicate on the accommodation form if you also require a tax invoice to be sent.
Arrival & Departure
Arrival During Business Hours
Keys can be collected between 12noon-2.30pm by going to Reception and asking for the Accommodation Officer.
After 4pm keys can be collected from the Security Officer in the security office located on the corner of Watson House.
Arriving Outside of Business Hours & Weekends
Keys and details of new arrivals will be left with the Security Guard. Upon arrival, please go to the Security office located at the main entrance. If the office is unattended, please press the red button on the front gate which will alert the Guard, who will provide further assistance.
Departures
On the morning of your departure, please place your key in the Key Return Box located on the ground floor of King House, near the eastern staircase.

- Medical centre and chemist
Restaurants
Apart from the restaurants located in the Westfield shopping centre, the nearest restaurants can be found in Epping, Parramatta, Baulkham Hills and Castle Hill and would require travel by bus or taxi.
