Over the last decade, a number of diagnostic tests have been introduced to the world of auditory electrophysiology for both the infant and adult population. The use of non-behavioral assessments such as tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions, and electrophysiology has become more routine in assessing hearing sensitivity. This workshop will concentrate on different assessment methods as it relates to assessing the status of the middle ear and hearing sensitivity of the auditory system. In addition, we will discuss the use of the vestibular evoked myogenic potential (VEMP), vestibular assessment can be performed on children to rule out a vestibular involvement especially in children with hearing impairment and reading issues.
This event has been endorsed for 10 CPD points from ASA.

Our research group is investigating the deterioration, development, plasticity and re-organization of the human central auditory pathways in normal hearing children, in children with sensorineural hearing loss (SNHL) and Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder (ANSD) who are fitted with cochlear implants and hearing aids. Our measures of central auditory maturation include cortical auditory evoked potentials (CAEP), high-density electroencephalography (EEG), magnetoencephalography (MEG) and behavioral measures. Anu will discuss results using these and other brain imaging measures of deafness.
This event is a collaboration between the RIDBC Renwick Centre and the Sydney Cochlear Implant Clinic. This event has been approved for 5.0 CEUs by the AG Bell Academy.
