The RIDBC Renwick Centre Practicum Handbook details the practicum requirements for EDUC6855, EDUC6666 and EDUC6861. All students are advised to review this document in the first semester of study.

Whole Book Download

All students who are enrolled in the MSpecEd (Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Blind/Vision Impaired or Sensory Disability specialisations) must complete a practicum. 

Some students will complete a practicum via EDUC6666. Some students will complete a practicum via EDUC6855.

FOR STUDENTS WHO COMMENCED STUDIES IN THE MSPECED DURING OR PRIOR TO 2014:

Students who commenced studies in the MSpecEd during or prior to 2014 are required to complete a practicum via enrolment in EDUC6666 Inclusive and Collaborative Practice. EDUC6666 is a compulsory course which includes a 20-day practicum. Students who are qualified teachers must complete a practicum in either Deaf/Hard of Hearing or Blind/Vision Impaired (as per the students' nominated specialisation.) Students who commenced during or prior to 2014 who are not qualified teachers should contact alison.hawkins-bond@ridbc.org.au for further information. Refer to the EDUC6666 Practicum Handbook

FOR STUDENTS WHO COMMENCED STUDIES IN THE MSPECED DURING OR AFTER 2015:

Students who commenced study in the MSpecEd in 2015 are required to enrol in EDUC6666 in order to complete the coursework component ONLY. 2015 commencing students are NOT required to complete the EDUC6666 practicum. 2015 commencing students will be required to complete a practicum via enrolment in EDUC6855 Professional Experience, Research and Critical Reflection in Sensory Disability. Refer to the EDUC6855 Practicum Handbook (EDUC6855 Practicum Handbook accessible).

TASL Manual and Forms

Students completing the practicum component of the Master of Special Education (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) are advised to obtain a copy of the TASL manual and forms prior to commencing practicum.

Online Practicum Assessment Tool

The Cooperating Teacher is asked to complete the Practicum Assessment in consultation with the Student using the Online Practicum Assessment Tool. Both parties must sign and date the Assessment. Once the Assessment is completed, please print it off, add signatures and post to:
