The Renwick Centre conducts research in areas relating to the education of children with sensory disabilities.

Captions for the Deaf and Hearing Impaired: Availability versus accessibility

Experiments on television captioning with adults and educational captioning with children are being used to determine how resources might best be directed to improving caption accessibility.

Carrie Smith Braille Music Research and Development Project
Dr Mike Steer, Dr Rod Beattie, Alan Baynham, and Nigel Herring
This project will develop the Toccata system to better meet the needs of blind musicians and music students by linking keyboard notation code to vocalization, and will conduct user-based research on braille versus speech for the development of a spoken-music methodology.
