The RIDBC Garfield Barwick School, at RIDBC North Parramatta, offers an auditory/oral program for children aged 4½-12 years who have an educationally significant hearing impairment. Children use cochlear implants or hearing aids.
The school develops children's ability to listen and talk.
Students are gradually integrated into mainstream “partner schools”. RIDBC Garfield Barwick School aims to fully integrate students by Year 5. After that, depending on the students’ individual needs, they may access RIDBC’s specialist support.

Program
Parents are an integral part of the program and are encouraged to take an active involvement in their child’s education. An individual education plan is developed, and parents receive regular written reports on their child’s progress.
Each student studies and attends classes at both the RIDBC Garfield Barwick School and their partner school. The amount of time students spend at each location depends on the individual’s needs and abilities.
Features
The school is housed in a specially renovated building designed to reduce environmental noise. It also has a fully equipped audiological department and a well-equipped library.
