RIDBC employs a team of special educators/consultants who support school-aged children with vision impairment who are enrolled in mainstream schools. They:
- Ensure that each student receives material in an appropriate format (eg, braille or large print)
- Support students in either classrooms or separate areas
- Organise special equipment for students, such as slope boards or lights
- Advise teachers and students about vision impairment
- Regularly liaise with parents and schools
