A Tribute to Ian Paul

We farewelled one of RIDBC’s most generous and long-time supporters, Ian Paul, at the age of 86.

Ian and his wife Dorothy have been generous
donors of RIDBC since the early 1990s, and
were made Life Governors in 1998

A retired banker and active philanthropist, Mr Paul has greatly assisted RIDBC with a range of projects, including the establishment of RIDBC Thomas Pattison School; the creation of the Dorothy Paul Centre, in memory of his late wife; and the Ian Paul Auditorium which seats 220 people and is part of our commitment to ongoing professional education and research through RIDBC Renwick Centre.

Chris Rehn, RIDBC Chief Executive was honoured to be asked to deliver Ian’s eulogy on behalf of all of the charities that Ian and Dorothy supported.

“There is no doubt that the outcomes possible today for children and adults with vision or hearing loss are so much better thanks to the incredible support of Ian and Dorothy Paul.

“We were extensions of their family and they quietly did what was required in a manner that never drew attention to themselves. Ian lived his life to support those in need and served as a benchmark for others. Ian was an outstanding supporter and human being. He will be missed but never forgotten,” said Chris.
