Local celebrities joined Swimart Ambassador and Olympic champion Susie O'Neill last Sunday 26 June at the Central Coast, and Hunter, Splash for Cash fundraising events.

At Central Coast 60 swimmers hit the pool, swimming 1943 laps of Mingara One Fitness and Aquatics Centre’s Olympic sized pool.

The race between Susie O’Neill and 101.3 Sea FM Central Coast presenter Paddy Gerrard was a close finish, with the victory going to the Olympic swimming champion.

At the Hunter Splash 47 swimmers dived into the Forum Sports and Aquatic Centre to swim 1419 of the 50 metre pool.

The race between Susie O’Neill and 105.3 New FM’s Breakfast Presenter Sarah Levett’s team was also close, with each lane taken up by an eager contender.

“The support we received from sponsors and swimmers, as well as from Swimart Ambassador Susie O’Neill, was really fantastic” said Chris Rehn, RIDBC Chief Executive.

“It was a big day for RIDBC and the energy at both venues was great to experience.

“Children with vision or hearing impairment rely on our services to help them achieve to their full potential. We can only continue to provide such specialised care with community support, and we remain greatly indebted to those who volunteer their time and efforts at events like Splash for Cash.”
