Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children (RIDBC) is excited to announce that it has been chosen by Steggles and the Sydney Roosters as the 2013 ‘Charity of Choice’, joining three other charities benefiting from the Steggles Charity Nest.

The Charity Nest sees Steggles, major sponsor of the Sydney Roosters, donate $1000 for every point the Roosters beat the opposition by in 2013, while the Roosters contribute $250 per point. Additionally, in 2013 the Sydney Roosters will contribute $1,000 for each win by their under 20s Toyota Cup team.

Funds raised through 2013 will be invested in progressive educational technology that will assist children with vision or hearing loss learn and communicate.

“The Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children is extremely grateful to be chosen as the Steggles and Sydney Roosters Charity of Choice for 2013. The partnership provides not only much-needed funds, but also an outstanding opportunity to raise awareness of the work of RIDBC,” said RIDBC Chief Executive, Chris Rehn.

“Without such generous support from the corporate sector, RIDBC wouldn’t be able to provide high quality services to thousands of children and families across Australia.”

Since the initiative was first launched in 2010, the Steggles Roosters Charity Nest has raised $820,000 for Australian children’s charities. The goal this year is to exceed the $1 million mark.

“The Steggles Roosters Charity Nest is something we are very proud of. We find it very rewarding to work with a new charity each year to help raise funds and awareness. We look forward to the year ahead with RIDBC,” said Steggles CEO Simon Camilleri.

“The boys are ready for a big year, and a part of that is knowing they are able to help raise money for those who need it via the Charity Nest. Everyone here wants to hit that million dollar mark!” said Roosters COO Ted Helliar.
