School Support

We support children who have hearing or vision impairment in mainstream preschool and school settings to have full access to the school curriculum.

These services can be provided with blended program of school visits and electronic support.

What does the School Support Program provide?

  • Specific focus on educational needs for children with hearing or vision impairment
  • Assessment and planning
  • Specialist 1:1 teaching to develop the student’s language/literacy skills, Braille tuition, Low vision aid prescription, Access technology tuition
  • Regular reporting to the Principal, relevant staff and parents.
  • Monitor and provide support for use of audiological equipment.
  • Advise schools about special provisions for assessment tasks.
  • Students may access a consultative service from RIDBC’s range of therapists including, Psychologists, Audiologists, Speech Pathologists, Orthoptists and Access Technology Consultants.
  • Creation of alternative format publications
  • Seminars and workshops for schools
